My first destination is already picked out. For the rest, I’m hoping you can give me some ideas.
First, I am headed to Italy to study poetry at Ezra Pound's castle in Brunnenburg, hence fulfilling the poetic aspect of the Renaissance Man ideal. I will be studying the poetry of Ezra Pound and taking a poetry writing workshop through The University of New Orleans' MFA Creative Writing program.
The Rest of the Journey
At some point I hope to go to Thailand (if the political situation there stabilizes) to learn Muay Thai, Latin America to learn salsa and to New Orleans, perhaps, to learn an instrument. I would also like to spend a month in a Buddhist monastery for the philosophy segment. However, I am open to different ideas. This journey, ultimately, is not about imitating someone else’s concept of man but about becoming my own man. I will do whatever I think will better myself and make my adventure more meaningful.

For those of you reading this page and following my blog, thank you. Although I now sit cozy in my room in New Jersey, it won’t be long before I’m thousands of miles away getting my ass kicked by some 120 pound Thai man with inexplicably quick hands. Knowing people are out there reading, even if it’s merely to mock my foolishness—knowing that I’m not just throwing words into the dark—I expect, will be comforting.
